Im going to college and have two options but dont know which one to choose. I narrowed it down to Eastern Kentucky univ, which I guess has a pretty good CJ program, or Northern Michigan univ. Northern Mich allows you to go to their police academy and become a certified police officer in michigan (they said it's transferable to most states). Would it be easier getting a job with a degree from a good CJ school, or being certified with some college credits. I am looking to try to get into police and sheriff departments.

My Opinion is this. If you plan on becoming a Police Officer In Mich then go to Northern Michigan. I say this because of the police academy option. If you plan on being a police officer some where else then why go through michigan's police adacemy. Each state has different Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure. Also most states will require you to take atleast part of that states academy.

My brother went to EKU. Suppossedly it has one of the top CJ programs in the country. It is pretty close to the middle of no where though.

Like Reca said if you plan on being a police officer in Michigan than the police academy option might be a good idea. Also police academy training does not always transfer from state to state. When it does transfer you usualy have to have worked as an officer in the state that certified you for a minimum of two to three years.
