I have been threatened to be sued MANY times , including the attorney I arrested for DUI. I also get the " I'll have your badge" types.

Not one has ever so much as filed any paperwork.

I've been sued once already. I was actually in college and worked for a city as a civilian employee of the police department. We had some basic patrol duties. A girl drove into a gate in my area and became a vegetable when it took the top of her head off. It was a problem gate the city should have fixed and due to some legitimate circumstances I hadn't gotten to it that night. They sued me and a bunch of other city employees since they couldn't sue the city directly. I actually was glad since I thought the city should have fixed the damn gate and I did nothing wrong. The insurance settled and I hope the girl will be taken care of for the rest of her life.

Once - case was thrown out because - get this - the plaintiff lied, helps that he plead guilty too. (You mean people we arrest lie?)

Was a witness for a guy that fell on a sidewalk. He sued the city for close to a $100k. I just happened to be driving by and saw him fall, called rescue etc. I was not named as a respondent, just as a witness.
