Some depts do, not very many though. The only ribbon we can wear on our uniform is one representing the Medal of Valor. Out west at least, you rarely see medals on police uniforms.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

The U.S. Border Patrol are allowed to wear any ribbon that they earned while on active duty on their ceremonial uniform. No jump wings or PX Ranger Tabs are allowed, just the ribbons.

We have ribbons for Medal of Valor, Lifesaving, Merit and Purple Heart.

We have LOTS of different ribbons:
Chief's Citation for Excellence
Medal of Valor
Medal of Honor
Scarlet Shield (Equiv to the Purple Heart)
And Tenure ribbons, to name a few.
Valor and Honor are the biggies that are the hardest to get.

On the job only, no military service ribbons. We have:
1. Meritorious Service ribbon – is green with a white stripe in the middle. This is the most senior ribbon and is given to staff that have done something above and beyond their line of duty. The Superintendent or designee determines the awarding of this ribbon.
2. Firearms Proficiency ribbon – is a white, green and red striped. This is the second most senior ribbon and is awarded to staff that shot a 90 % or better in their annual qualification. The staff member must maintain that level each year to be allowed to wear this ribbon, if they fail to maintain that level the ribbon must be returned to training.
3. Firearms Instructor ribbon – is green and red. This is the third most senior ribbon and is awarded to those staff who are firearms instructors.
4. Defensive Tactics Instructor ribbon – is black and gold. This is the fourth most senior ribbon and is awarded to those staff who are defensive tactics instructors.
5. General Instructor ribbon – is green and gold. This is the fifth most senior ribbon and is awarded to those staff who are general instructors.
6. First Aid/CPR Instructor – is White and red. This is the sixth most senior ribbon and is awarded to those staff who are First aid and CPR instructors.
7. Service ribbon – is a solid green. This is the most junior ribbon and is awarded to staff that have been continuously employed for 3 years with no disciplinary actions within the time frame that the award is being presented, in their personnel file. Staff will be awarded a star to put on the ribbon at 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years once again not receiving any disciplinary actions in their personnel files between award dates.

We have quite a few here. Aside from the firearms qualification badge that everyone gets a variant of, there's the safe driver award, various individual and unit citations, plus the big awards such as lifesaver and valor. We also have specialty badges for officers on special units such as SWAT, EOD, aviation, FTO, dive team, etc.
Officers don't have to wear them if they don't want to. Personally, I don't wear any of mine. It's just more crap to stick on your uniform.
We have ribbons for all kinds of stuff. FTO, Motor Carrier Enforcement, Bike patrol, motorcycle patrol , SERT , purple heart , valor etc. Just like the military.
Creeper Cop
We have the same as KCMO PD.......
Medal of Valor, The Police Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, Purple Heart, Certificate of Commendation, Meritorious Service Award, Special Unit Citiation Award, Lifesaving Award, Firearm Proficiency Award, Physical Fitness Ribbon, Trainers Ribbon, Driving Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, and Tenure Ribbon.
