As one of the Sergeants I used to work under said, "Your integrity and honesty are your career. If you don't have them, or ever loose them, you loose your career, as you can't testify in court without them. If you can't testify in court, your career in law enforcement is over."

Damn, those sergeants are full of wisdom, aren’t they? ;)Originally Posted by ROS

Lie in court/on the job once, you're always a liar.
Lacking honesty and integrity, an officer is no better than the scum he takes off the street every day.

There was a guy in my academy who had a degree in urban affairs or something like that from Princeton. I have no idea why he was a cop, but he was incredibly intelligent. When he had about 10 years on, he testified in court that he not only had a bachelors from Princeton, (which he did) but a masters from there (he didn't). The defense checked and he was found guilty of perjury and canned. Always amazed me that he didn't think the bachelors from Princeton was enough and had to lie about. I doubt he ever lied about the facts of a case, but that ended his LE career.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

You can get all the freakin training you want at the academy,

handed down from GOD and is always right.
Got very bad news for them, there is a WHOLE lot of Gray areas out there.
My integrity is my strongest virtue, if I want to continue in this profession.

I would agree with common opinion, integrity is the most important trait. I'd say that being fair and levelheaded is second, and would put donuts at a distant third!! :D
