I saw a post that talked about how often a cop needs to qualify for a gun. What is involved in qualifying? I don't have a lot of experience with guns and I want to make sure I am prepared when I need to qualify.
So far I have rented and shot 9mm glocks and sigs at the local indoor range. I took a safety class and have practiced a few times shooting at targets from 10 feet to 60feet away. My target from 10 to 30 feet look pretty well grouped, but the shots are more spread out from 40 to 60 feet. The department I am trying for uses the .40 caliber glock (glock 22 I believe).
I have been told that we may carry a backup weapon but we must qualify with it. I was thinking of using the Glock 27 because it is able to use the same clips as the issued Glock 22.
Any advise gladly accepted.
