    Armed when out of state

I am a police officer in Arizona. My folks live out of state. Anyone know where I can find information on police officers traveling armed (concealed) while visiting other states ?

It probably depends on what state you're travelling to. I mean, if you go to Texas, you'll probably be allowed to carry several guns. (Sorry if I offended any Texans out there.) Since it sounds like you're not going on official business, I imagine it all depends on what state your folks live in.

Here are some sites to review:

    http://www.bradycampaign.org/facts/statelaws/index.asp

    http://www.packing.org

1997 figures from the Southern States Police Benevolent Association confirm that more than 20 states forbid officers from other states to carry concealed weapons when not on official duty.

There used to be a list of States that allowed or not allow off-duty officers to carry firearm while travelling to another state at our Department. But I could not find it.

If your not sure a certain state allows you to carry off-duty I would contact the State Police for that State or may the Attorney General's Office.

    Hope this helps.
