Must be an east coast thing. I've never seen a PBA card or anything like it. Oh, and as already stated, You WILL come out of the car. How painful the experience is is really up to you.
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

Using the FOP as an example a member of the public who is not a member of the FOP would not be allowed into an FOP event unless of course the FOP advertised the event open to the public.
The cards are also an acknowledgement to you of a donation to the respective organization either through your membership dues or other special promotions such as special olympics etc.
Also, still using the FOP as an example a member has to display an FOP membership card to gain admittance to the "lodge" if they are members from another state. So the "cards" are for use in the activities of the organization that issued them and nothing else.

that answers my question perfectly, thank you

If I find dope/guns in your car, the first thing a defense lawyer is going to do is file a motion to suppress the evidence- whether the search was legal or not. No reason to waste my time just to have my case tossed.

im sure 99% of you guys think im trying to find a way to talk back to offers to cause trouble, but i really am just curious
ive been pulled over twice, each time i responded to the officer with complete respect and being 100% polite

however, in your post, thats what im getting at in my question....what qualifies the search to be legal

Drakx188 this has been addressed many times before in these and other police forums you just need to use the search feature and you'll find the questions and answers that have been passed along in the past.

I'm going to give you a two word answer on this one and this is not meant as an insult, but check any of the good search engines and look it up because there are thousands of pages written about............PROBABLE CAUSE.

Another two words....reasonable suspicion. Anytime during my encounter with someone in a vehicle and they lean over or bend over as if they're reaching for something, they are coming out of the car and the immediate area is being searched. I can articulate in court why I felt I was threatened when the person, for no reason, seems to be going for something (such as a weapon). It is called a terry frisk (Terry v. Ohio). It pertains to both persons in and out of vehicles. Officer safety issue. ;)

I am real big on the cards. But if I have you stopped, and deem it necessary that I have to ask you out of the car, you are doing something BAD! And rights? Your rights are to open teh door and get out on your own, or have me break teh windo and pull your *** out it, and onto the ground. Do not even think about embarassing the person who gave you that card by showing it. That card is not good for anything you are talking about!
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.
