    Nifty stuff

I went on a ride-along the other day and it was awsome, I learned so much. I started noticing little things the officer would do (good things) that I wouldn't think of doing, like.....when he was filling out the paperwork after making an arrest, he asked the female for her boyfriends name, phone number, etc. I asked him later why he asked for that information and he said incase they ever needed to find the girl or get information about her. This is just one example and its probably something that most LEO's do, but I was really impressed with all the tricky things he did that the average person wouldn't think of. So my question........Do they teach you things like that in the academy or during FTO or do you learn them once your on your own (by making dumb mistakes). And, any other little tricks like that you LEO's use often that ya wanna share? Thanks.

Its all fun and games 'till someone puts out an eye. Then its just fun.

Agree. We don't share tactics and tips in the open where anyone can read them, including criminals who will use them against us.

All three. Get into the field and there is a wealth of knowledge and tools to be learned, a lot of it becomes second nature after a while.

Nothing beats experience and common sense.
My wife left me alone with a case of Corona, a bag of limes and the cat. Beer is gone. What will I do with the extra limes and the cat?

The best trick i've learnt is the art of bull****, I can speak it so convincingly I could fool anyone.

Yep. Sell cars for a while and then become a cop. I did and that probably helped me more than any academy.

In both jobs you try to get people to do something they're reluctant to do and still make them feel good about it! ;)
