How to motivate a cadet??
Star, here it is. Alright, I need help. I have a person in my academy that is falling a little behind the power curve on alot of things. I want to help properly motivate him without resorting to what I learned in the Marine Corps. He was in the AirForce and I think our methods would hurt him more than help. Here's the list from week one:
A) Got pulled over for speeding by an FTO going 30 in a school zone.
B) Forgets things (i.e. his belt and to button his pockets).
C) Doesn't pay attention to verbal instructions.
D) A know it all attitude because of his fathers position in an LEO agency.
E) Talks too much and listens too little, including during classes.
I also realise he is only 24 years old and is trying to impress those of us that are older. I really want to help him without hurting him. I would like any suggestions that my team can use to get him to get his act together.
p.s. Shotgun punishments here, if one messes up, we all pay.
I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, killed many men and loved only one woman with a passion a flea like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. Now, go home, boy!
