    I have a question.

Hi, my name is Richard. I live in Indiana. I have a question for anyone who can answer it. I looked online and cannot seem to find any answer.
I was wondering if you have asthma can you still become a law enforcement officer? I never found and answer for that question and still i am searching. It would be helpful if i knew.
I am only 17 years old, but i am strongly considering law enforcement as a career in the future. I have where i am going to college planned and what i am going to do in life, so it would be nice to know if i can become a cop, if i have asthma. I don't want to go through school and plan my future as a cop if i cannot be one. I am about to graduate next year and thats why i was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this. If you do, can you please reply. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    -Richard

I know lots of cops with asthma. As long as it's treatable enough to run 1.5 miles, you should be fine.

    Good Luck!

Yes, it depends on how bad your asthma is and how dependant you are on your meds etc.

With us you need to be able to do situps, bench press, 300 meter run and the 1.5 mile run.

I know lots of officers who suffer from the infamous oriental disease "Dragon ***"

Hey Joe, you look real tired today, ya alright?

Yeah, worked a double yesterday, and I'm dragging *** now!

    Of course there's anal glaucoma.

"Sarge, I'm taking a sick day, I've got anal glaucoma"

    "Anal glaucoma, what is that?"

"Well, sarge, that means I just can't see my *** coming into work today"

I think with most PD's it depends on the severity of your asthma. If you can control it well like the others have stated, I don't think you'll have a problem.

Severe asthma...no. General and light asthma that you can control...sure. That means all the PT in gym with no break and no inhaler!!!!! There are pills now...1x a day works all day! (singulair) That is what I take and never have had a problem.
