I hope this thread has shown that policing is different in every corner of America!

Do they have county wide jurisdiction, sure, but is it their primary area of responsibility nope!

But hey I have nothing but love for my Deputy Sheriffs, County Correctional Officers, and Sheriff's Police Officers!

And for the record, Clinical Studies prove that City Officers are more attractive on average than County Officers. In other words, City Officers are the Beautiful People.

2 out of 3 Doctors surveyed determined that they find city officers more attractive, fit, and fabulous than their county counterparts. LOL!
Not totally true in all down "south" areas, particularly in Nashville, TN. Davidson county sheriff's office runs the jail. The only ones that are armed are serving warrants. Even their vehicles do not have blue lightbars and they have no powers of arrest other than the warrant in their hand. Most of those warrants are civil process anyway. If it is a fugitive, criminal, or drug warrant, Metro Nashville PD is handling it.

We may not assist with a pursuit in the county by a city agency, but would NEVER tell them to call it off.

I stand corrected, when I'm wrong I admit it!

I have been unable to locate a statute in Florida. I was told by a corporal that we have a policy which allows us to terminate a pursuit which is going through our jurisdiction/outside of the city if it does not meet our policy for a pursuit. I haven't had time to look at it.

But now I have questions for my agency and hopefully will get them answered next week.
Drive it, Like you stole it!!
