Hello LEOs,

My friend and I went to the shooting range yesterday for the first time. We used Glock 17s and it was exhilarating. A question that arose as a result of our activity is the following:

How often do LEOs go to the shooting range to practice up, and does the department pay for the ammo used?

Answers from both American and Canadian LEOs are appreciated.

We have a range in the basement of the PD. If we chose to, we can shoot monthly in the PD using their ammo. In the summer I love going to outdoor ranges and I typically use my own ammo there.

We have our range that is open to us a few times a year due to the fact that the rest of the time it is being used for qualifications and training. For more practice, i go to an indoor range or to a friend of mine who owns several acres of land and has set up his own range.
