DC LAW - It is an insult to think that I would ever want to be like you, truley.. When I become a LE I will strive to be the best possible. Unlike you I will try to help people and not judge them by what I think they do or may have done. When you learn to do that it will enable you to become a great police officer, until then you continue being just another mediocre officer.

I mean even reading the skateboarding post that was mad earlier... you people are talking about how skateboarders are stupid and immature and how could you skateboard at age 19, etc. Personally I'm not a fan of skateboarding but that doesn't make me better. You guys need to grow up and realize that you are not God and that you are just like everyone else. The ones who don't realize this are the ones who will go on and have anger problems and probably beat a suspect for merely questioning you. I bet a lot of you will also have children in this new era and they will try drugs, they will dye their hair red and purple, they will become skateboarders, they will be everything you guys hate about society. Don't confuse the idea of civil service with that of being your servant. We don't work for you. We work for our families, our selves, etc. We are employed by our respective city/state/federal agencies. We also pay the taxes that theoretically pay our salaries, as well as generating income through other sources. If we are servants of anything, it is not certanly not any individual, but the law and society as a whole. If you are serious about pursuing a career in law enforcements, you should give some thought to that, as well as to why it is considered a brotherhood. If you don't understand that, no one can explain it to you.

That made me laugh out loud. I am nobody's servant. Yes part of my job is to answer calls and help others with their problem, but you will get a very different response if you try calling me a servant.

Unfortunately for you, and extremely fortunately for us, LE is a career where you ARE judged on your past and if it's a bad past, you cannot be one.

For some reason you think this is just a blind bias that we get from the media or something. We wouldn't be saying this if it weren't for the fact that we deal with these kids first hand. Personally, I have come across exactly THREE skateboarders in my career who complied completely without sarcasm, swearing, attitude, etc when I told them that they had to leave and were not allowed to skateboard there anymore. The other 99.99999% acted just as we said they act.
