whats up guys, my names Mike and yes im a skateboarder. just wanted to know your views on skateboarders.

1. are they a problem in your area, if so how?

2. is skateboarding really a big deal? (when it comes to having the police called on them just for skateboarding, not vandalism,drugs,etc.)

just a few weeks ago I came across an officer who "wasn't having it". me im 19 and my friend hes 24 were skateboarding across the street of his house in a parking lot. we brought over a grind rail and a Box with his pick up truck. we have skated here 1,000's of times,always talk and chat to the people who work in the building even the owner. they have never had a problem with us as long as we "clean up". well one day we are skating when a cleaner yells to us "you know the cops are going to come" my friend responded "um...ok we'll leave if they do" we really didnt think much of it since he was a cleaner of the building and really had no authority. fifteen minutes later a police officer comes up in his patrol car. when he gets up to us I say to him "time to go?" he seemed very angry, ignors me and says to us very loudly "wern't you told to leave" me and my friend responded "no, not at all" we told him how the cleaner said that the cops might come and that we would leave if they did. this must have pissed him off, he starts threatening us saying how hes going to arrest us etc. he asked for our I.D. I told him I didnt have any (which was true) my friend had to walk over to his truck to grab his I.D. as im telling him my info I ask him in a calm voice, "is this really neccesary?" I told him all you have to do is tell us to leave and thats it we would pack up no questions asked. he then told me to "be quiet" this is when I broke out my video camera and started recording the officer. my friend comes back saying that his I.D. is across the street in his house. the officer says "you drove over here without your lisence" you here me on tape say "Here we go (laughing)" the officer asked me if I thought something was funny I told him no I dont think anythings funny I just dont understand why all this is neccessary? he tells us not to come back or he'll arrest us.

after getting yelled at by this police officer I was kinda stunned, not sure why it was such a huge deal. If he told us to leave that would be the end. we wern't destroying property or anything, it was a saturday so the parking lot was empty. this was only SKATEBOARDING lol. its just funny to me you'd think we stole something or hurt someone I guess skaters go through this everyday.

Did you ask the property owner if it was ok to skate there before you did?

Would it be ok for me to come and hang out with my friends on your porch without your mom's permission?

Would it be ok for me to ignore your mom when she told me that the police are going to kick me off your porch?

Would it be not as bad to hang out on your porch on Saturday when no one is home at your house since it's quiet and were not bothering anybody?

I despise skaters for the following reasons:

They can't read!! This is obvious because they constantly skate within a 10-ft radius of a "no skateboarding sign."

The actually believe the phrase, "skateboarding is not a crime."

Their skateboard is never the board that marks or scrapes the property belonging to someone else... it's always someone else’s!

Skaters are just a nuisance! But it's not due to the skating... it's due to the attitude! If skaters stayed in the skate parks, or on their property, or on property with permission to be there, I would never complain!

The "cleaner" is the representative of the company and therefore in control of the property in a superiors absence. You already said you would leave if the cops showed up , but why if you had "permission?"

In my exposure to boarders they are immature, destructive, profane and could care less about private property owners wishes. They skate out in the street, on the sidewalk etc where at least in my area it is not allowed. And yes I have arrested boarders for doing this. You can always tell where they congregate because of the cigarette butt sand trash.

You guys are your OWN worst enemy.

A grind rail? I know its a rail, by the term, but what does young wayward youth speak of here? Also, 19 and 24 years old, and still skate boarding!!!!! Holy crap thats sad. When I was both those ages, I was in the military, preparing for my present career. I don't know about you guys, but we (CBP) are allowed to take a camera or video camera from people if they film us or take our picture. We give back the device, but erase or take film right on the spot.

I'm hoping that one of our Commonwealth brethren can explain what "wanking" is. I wasn't aware that it was also a skateboarding term now. :p
