    Arrow Jurisdiction questions NY specific

First, thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions here :D

How are jurisdictional boundaries laid out amongst local, state, park law enforcement agencie?
E.G. can state park police issue a summons outside a state park boundary? I would assume state police can issue anywhere in a state (unless it's federal property...?).

Just trying to respond to a discussion about who can write what where

    TIA.

State Park Police are limited to the "geographical boundaries of their employment". If you can get your hands on a copy of the Criminal Procedure Law, you can find this info in great detail.

Okay, Did you get your ticket in Manhattan on Riverside Drive by the 125th street Park or on the Palisades Interstate Parkway by Bear Montain? LOL

The surrounding roads that border or immediately connect the park are fair game. Old Trooper is correct...they must be writing in their "geographical area of employment." And according to the CPL, section 34-a. If you are zipping up Riverside Drive and pass the Park on 125th Street.....don't be surprised to see them behind you with lighst on for any VTL they can find. As for up by Bear Mountain....same as you pass through teh varios sectons on Route 6 or the Palisades.

We had a NYS Parks guy call for assistance one day...stopped a lady using radar...she was police but refused to give him her docs because she was outside the park and he was a "guard" in her words. She called 911...we showed up. Instead of warning and admonsihing, she was hammered with VTL summonses and the....continued acting up...so after the Parks Officer was done, my partner slapped her with a disorderly conduct summons and a unreasonable noise summons.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

I actually didn't get paper for anything, just trying to get a definitive answer for my local Ducati group.

BTW what's VTL? Tried figuring that one out but no luck
