    Angry cant obtain personal belongings

Here is the problem, any help would be appreciated. Wife had gone to her fathers for a few weeks, we had a cooling off period. Now, she does not have a key, the place office does, they will not let her in to retrive her belongings, father is nowhere to be found. There is no damage etc,, she just wants her things? Any ideas? Thanks

What do you mean, the father is no place to be found?

Your story has a hole in it big enough to sink a battleship. She had no problem finding him to "cool off", but now "no one knows where he is?"

The apartment office cannot allow her in, in essence you are SOL. If she forceably enters, she can be arrested. The place is not hers, and she in not on the lease.

How exactly does txinvestigator1's response make him not a "good cop"? Just because you didn't get the answer you want?

In my experience, if she is not on the lease, or if she is not an emergency contact listed on the rental application, then the apartment manager cannot let her into the apartment. It doesn't matter if she is family or not.

What I would suggest is to have her politely ask the manager to contact the emergency contact number listed on the father's lease (if he listed any) and see if said individual will come over and open the apt. for your wife.

Or maybe you can mail her the clothes left at your house.

I don't get how her dad was available for her to "cool off" and now he is not to be found. Something smells fishy.

Your story is still kind of confusing.

You and your wife are having stressfull times so she went to her dad's to cool off and blow off some steam. She's there long enough to get her stuff inside and dad leaves her locked out. Now she can't get her stuff and has no idea where her dad is?

How long has dad been missing? Where was he headed when he never came back? Has she reported him as missing? How far away is she from you? Maybe she just needs to come home and wait for dad to get back and mail her stuff to her.

There is no legal way for her to get in there and not risk being charged with destruction of property at best and burglary (felony) at worst.

Shouldn't you or your wife be worried that her 80 year old father seems to have vanished completely? Either a lot of info is missing from this story, or something is seriously wrong with her priorities. (My father is missing, possibly dead or hurt, and damnit! I cant get my clothes! I want my clothes now! wtf!!!!111!!oneone!)

Yeah, why is no one concerned about the old man????
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine
