    College degrees

    Hello-
I am writing this because i am need of advice that could help me someday become a LEO. Here is my situation. I am currently enrolled in my first year of college. I attend a technical school and my major is called Ranger Services. I chose this major because i was very interested in natural resource law enoforcement. ie park ranger, watercraft officer, gaming officer. I am almost done with my first year and i have lost interest in the natural resource aspect and want to pursue general police work. I am now considering switching schools and pursuing a criminal justice major. If i did this i would lose most of my college credit. My question is this, when police departments hire, does it matter to them what the applicants callege major was? Ranger Services is related to law enforcement but i cant help but think i would stand a better chance getting hired by a police/sheriff department with a criminal justice degree. I would be very greatful someone could give me some advice on this. Thanks

PS thanks to all you LEOs who take time out of their day to answer questions from annoying wannabes like me lol

Do a search. This has been covered at great lengths.

The bottom line is that you shouls study what you like. You will do far better than laboring through something that you don't particularly care for. Generally speaking, most LE jobs only want you to have a degree. It does not really matter what it is in.
