Recently, I was pulled over for speeding going 66 in a 55. The officer asked for my license and registration which I provided. He told me to stay in my car while he returned to his. He must have been checking my license to see if I had any warrants or other offenses. He returned to my car and asked me to get out. I did as I was told. He asked me to walk back to his car and put my hands on his hood. He proceeded to pat me down. I asked him what the problem was and he said that I had a warrant for failing to appear in court. I told him that I had prepaid the ticket and didn't need to go to court. He said he was just doing his job and told me I was under arrest and he would have to take me in. He said there was no need in arguing with him as he had no choice. He then said that he had to handcuff me. I put out my hands to be handcuffed in front and he said that I had to put my hands behind my back as that was the only way he handcuffed people he arrested. Moreover, he said that by putting my hands in front like that he was going to charge me with resisting arrest. Let me make it clear that once he told me to put my hands behind my back I did. The officer also said that he was going to use his regular cuffs on me but since I was resisting, he was going to use his hinged cuffs. I had no idea what he meant because I know nothing about cuffs. My question is did I resist arrest by merely putting my hands out in front to be handcuffed?
