    hemp leaf bumper sticker

    Ok, I have a question.
First of all, I do not use cannabis anymore (except in my cars diesel tank as fuel), (I had just lost interest in using it and since I work for the government, well...) however, my car, 2004 jetta tdi runs on biodiesel made from Canadian grown hemp and American grown soybeans, it gets well over 50 miles per gallon and is far better for the environment than "dino juice". I have been wanting to put a hemp leaf sticker next to my biodiesel sticker to advocate the fact that fuel can be made from hemp.
will this act make me a target for law enforcement officers to pull me over? Should I expect that if I am stopped for any reason, I will be searched by dogs for displaying the Hemp leaf?
Thank you in advance for any input related to my question.

You've answered your own question. Do you really want to get un needed attention from law enforcement? You can do what you want regarding your car and stickers, but I would take a 2nd look at you. It's what we in the police business call a "clue"

Theroretically no. You can put a big sign that says "I snort Heroin daily" and they can't stop or search you just because you are exercising your right to free speech. If they do stop you make sure you politely ask why, and if they make a comment about the sticker you can get their name and report them to the NAACP for violation of your rights. Hemp rules! There are many an item made out of hemp that are just outstanding and the best part is that their environmentally friendly.

The vast majority of people who advocate hemp also use it for recreational purposes. I'm not saying you do, but it does tend to align you with that group.

Well said, retdetsgt. I would also like to add that there really isn't a good reason to put such a bumper sticker on your car for the purposes you state. Having a sticker with a pot leaf on it is a general indication that you support pot, period. It does not state that you support hemp fuel usage, or anything more specific than support for the plant in general (to include recreational usage of the plant for intoxication). If you support hemp fuel usage and want the world to know, why not use your vocal cords, which can convey a very clear message when you choose to do so, rather than putting a sticker that serves as an outright approval of marijuana in general (that is, if you truly are not using the substance for recreational uses.)?

I suspect most cops will just shake their head at you when they see the sticker. However, if you are stopped for something you may find yourself scrutinized a little more.

I suppose I could put a soybean sticker on my car, but I think it looks like a coca leaf, I shure wouldn’t want to be linked with people who use cocaine.
hmm, I'll think about it. It just seems weird to me that I should be afraid of the consequences of putting a sticker on my car. I shall reconsider my thought process and deviate from the act by ignoring my political impulses. My time (and your time) is far more valuable to me (and yours) to be waiting for law enforcement k-9 officers to converge just because they are acting upon a “clue”.
    Thank you for your insight.

Don't give into the Jack Booted Thugs that easily. Stand up for what you believe in! put the sticker on your car and be proud, it's not your fault if people are closed minded and only see marijuana instead of the versitile and useful product that hemp is. Hemp has been used for normal purposes long before it was used for mind altering purposes. If the cops are only searching your car becuase you have a hemp sticker on it then there probably not very good cops to start with so you don't really have to worry about wasting their time. DO IT, let your voice be heard...seen. :D

Calling me closed minded? Look at the post, you can do what you want to you car when you want to do it as long as it isn't in violation of any motor vehicle laws then what is pasted on it is none of anyone's business, but let me tell you, if I personally saw that sticker on one of two identical cars, which do you think I would take a closer look at if they both violated a traffic law?

I am extremly sorry, I did not think that I had called anyone "closed minded"

I had thought that I had written

    please forgive my ineptitude.
