    Special Law Enforcement Vehicles

I know there are departments where they have mustangs and cameros as police cars probably for high speed chases. Are there police vehicles that handle corners really well especially if they were meant to pursue fast vehicles down a mountain road?

Do you know of any police organizations that use non-american vehicles?

If you rob a gas station, you're only going to get about $100, but I get to see a K9 dog use your arm as a chew toy. For all I care you can keep the $100.

We use all types of vehicles. The new ones tend to be american. However, we have a ton of siezed cars, too.

Police in America only use Crown Vics. Ergo, if you ever see any other type of vehicle following you around, it cannot be the police.

CHP tested Volvo S-70 as a patrol car around 99 or 2000. South Carolina Highwya patrol used BMW's for a while.

There are no more "American" cars. All cars, even the ones assembled in America use parts mainly from other countries such as Canada and China. There are thousands of semi loads of car parts (as well as cars) shipped from Canada daily to be completed here so technically they are assembled here, or finished here but they aren't really American just American assembled.

As far as the cars, I tried to get my Chief to authorize a couple foreign cars but for some reason he didn't think we needed any Lexus SUV's. Not sure what he was thinking but he'll come around I'm sure.

I agree with chewy's post. A few years ago the Ford Crown Vic was almost labled a "foreign" car (Mexican) had it not been for FoMoCo moving the cars differential production plant back into the US. From what I've read "X" % of the car must be made in the US for it to be an American car.
