I'm not sure of any meaning behind ours. I know our badges have meaning. They are state of michigan badges. They are basically our state seal blown up bigger with our department name on them.
The colors we wear aren't significant at all, IMO.

Our (Virginia State Police) uniforms and patrol cars are blue and gray. The gray is for the Confederate Army and the blue is for the Union Army.
