Thank you to everyone for participating in this dicussion. All of your input has been very helpful. It is particularily interesting to hear the different responses to the LED flares from a variety of geographic locations.

Durability is one aspect that has really surprised me about the LED flares. I have tested a couple units and have actually ran them over at various speeds. I have created some cosmetic damage, but have yet to break a unit or stop it from functioning.

Thanks again for the comments. Keep them coming.

My dept lost two cruisers in (I believe) a week because of flares igniting in the trunk and lighting the car on fire. The officers also lost all of their goodies that were in the trunk....Now we have to carry our flares in military ammo cans bolted to the floor of the trunk.

Dang we havent had that happen, but I know those cardboard boxes are garbage. Ammo boxes sounds smart. Our big problem is our gear moving over and setting off the fire extinguisher.

Hate the double post, sorry bout that. I just dont like the smoke from the old flares. The LED ones sound great, but I havent seen them yet.

My research has led me to a website called Galls (www.galls.com). I am sure that you are farmiliar with it. They are a police gear outfitter. They offer several LED and burning flares. One nice thing about the site is that it allows for product reviews.

For one LED flare, the Visi Flare, a reviewer wrote that the flare is the wrong color. The body of this flare is yellow with replacable colored lenses. My question to you is, why would yellow be the wrong color? If yellow is a bad color, what are the best colors? It seems that most are yellow or orange. What would the preference be?
