Funny, I never really thought about that. I did a poly for an armored truck place. He asked me " your a nervous guy arent you ", which meant he couldnt get SQUAT out of my answers. I wouldnt call it nervous. More pissed off that I had to participate in this bull****. Polygraphs are a crock of ****, even the courts know this.

How do you know what the results were on the polygraph? You may have been completely honest and they know you were honest but they didn't like the answers. Just because you were honest on the polygraph doesn't mean what you admitted to didn't disqualify you.

Furthermore I'll bet most cops have had to apply to more than one department and applied more than one time. Getting this job is an exercise in frustration. I've been turned down plenty of times, I was even a cop and got turned down from another agency I wanted to lateral to.

You need to change your attitude because you'll never be a cop if you give up now. You are probably going to go through more polygraphs if you want to be a cop. As BS as the poly may be you will have to face it again and sites like antipoly are going to mess up your head and screw you up. Get over it and move on to another department.

I would just like to say that I agree with [Don't link to those websites please - metallicat] because honest people like me get disqualified just because i got nervous, I want everyone to know the polygraph test is the biggest BULL ever. It doesnt prove anything and I KNOW i was not lying because I told everything truthfully.

Reading anti-poly websites won't help you defeat the machine. Don't get bent out of shape just because you failed a poly. You are already quitting, when you should be trying harder than ever to prove you are the most desireable candidate. It takes some people many applications to different departments before they get hired.

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again. We have all been through that. And we all griped and moaned just like you. Instead of bringing the system down, make yourself a better candidate.

Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.

    Unhappy

I agree with everyone who replied..but the problem is theres no way I can apply anywhere else, im 19 right now and theres not one law enforcement job out there that pays except this one in the Los Angeles area. I guess ill try law enforcement later when im older. This is was just a Cadet job anyways. You guys are right that I shouldnt cloud my head with the antipolygraph sites, I never really did, I read some posts on this forum about that guy from antipolygraph, although I agree on some of his points that the Polygraph system is complete BS, I didnt agree with how he wants to beat the system by cheating. No matter how crooked a system is, its never right to cheat it. My saying is Beat it dont Cheat it. Well I guess I accept my disqualification...but I feel incomplete and I also feel like im uncapable of something so easy. Thanks for the support guys, everything happens for a reason....I guess :( But ill never give up of what I love.

Lmao! I only know of one Cop who likes em...And I do agree, they are a crock. I still feel that a good backround investigation will yield more than the scare-me-machine. In the meantime, I will continue to partake in being hooked up to the goofy thing when I move to another Department.
