It might have an effect on you if you don't be straight forward and tell them. By letting them know what you have done in the past will make them think you have ommitted your mistakes and have learned by your past actions.... I wish you the best of luck and be safe..

I'm assuming that when you did this summary offence, that you were a teenager, right? Maybe 14 or 15? In this case, you'd have been convicted under the Young Offenders Act. Under this Act, all previous criminal records are cleared once you turn 18. Therefore, if it was ten years ago, it would be cleared by now (YOA comes into affect between the ages of 12 and 17 - only 5 years.) The record is still technically there, but can only be seen if specifically authorized by a judge (for example, if you have been arrested for murder at 22 years old, they could look back and see if you had committed other crimes while a yound offender.) In any case, it shouldn't make much of a difference to your chances of being hired. Good luck!

    Hummmmmmm....

Well, were you a young offender or not....you stated twice that you were "young and stupid".....now you are asking "what if I wasn't a young offender".....Please make up your mind.

Honesty is always the best policy when it comes to law enforcement applicants. If it was a one-time incident and you came clear with the prosecutors, investigators etc, it shouldn't be a problem. You would be very suprised what kind of information the applicant investigators can dig up on you. Good luck!
