    RCMP recruiting

I'm considering applying to the RCMP as well. I found their website extremely useful - http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/

Also, there's a few books written, one that I found especially good. It's called, if I remember correctly, "Troop 17:The Making of Mounties" or something very similar. It details exactly what happens before and during training. Other than those two things, I suggest calling your local RCMP office. They'll be glad to help you.

I'm still in high-school and I have ways to go but when I'm ready, I would conside applying to the RCMP. On their website they have everything you need to know about applying and testing. You can even download a practice written test to prepare. They just announced on the news that there is a high demand for RCMP Constables after what happend on Sept 11. Good luck!

    High Demand

Actually, there's been a high demand for all law enforcement personnel over the past couple years. They expect it to continue for about 4-6 years. The reason is that many higher ups in the departments are retiring or quitting for better paying private security jobs, therefore causing a huge personnel problem among front-line officers, since officers need to be promoted to replace the one's that left. The Sept.11 attacks will have a small effect on demand for new officers, but I can't see this demand staying as high as it is now for more than a year or so.
