    traumatic encounter with cop

I'm an RN, fifty-two years old, and I was stopped one night on the way home from work on suspicion of DUI. I was put through a considerable amount of psychic pain and unpleasantness by the officer before it was decided (much to my joy and relief) that I was not DUI after all, and let go without charges. The experience was very traumatic for me and I went through weeks of flashbacks, etc., and therapy before I got over it. My question is, how/why does an officer decide to be badge-heavy vs. calmly conducting an investigation? Is the idea to punish me? I have a great deal of respect for the work you do and the stresses and dangers you have to endure. I just don't know how to talk to you guys.

You must be a bad driver or something. The Officer would not have pulled you over if you hadn't have been driving strange. As far as the traumatic stuff, you're a nurse and you should know you should be on medication. Sorry, I am telling you as I see it.

No, I am saying it's probable cause to stop you.

I totally agree, he had probable cause to stop me. I was tired, I was weaving. My question is, why was he so loud about it?

You actually suffered "psychic" pain, flashbacks and had to undergo therapy? For a simple traffic stop in which it was determined you were not DUI and released on your way? Amazing.

I don't suspect you work in an E.R. Trauma Center, do you? I would think being an R.N. would prepare you for much more "psychic" pain than a traffic stop that lasted, what, twenty minutes at the most?

I am sure I am not the only one interested in just what was so traumatic about the stop. Would you mind clarifying some of that "psychic" pain?

Although I have no medical background I have never heard of "psychic pain". But my spidey senses are tingling on this one.

Too bad you weren't driving in my town. My department actually forbids the use of "psychic pain compliance techniques". Anyone who is caught using them is forced to wear a tinfoil sailors hat while making any future traffic stops and placed on psychic probation while being monitored via crystal ball from headquarters.
