It depends.
What was the original charge?
(2) counts 1st degree assualt, (2) counts 2nd degree assualt, handgun in vehicle, use of handgun in crime.... all charges were dropped.
Felonies??? Wow, maybe you should look into another career field.
You can apply but the circumstances will be of GREAT concern to ANY police dept. Assaults and weapons charges immediately sound BAD even with a Noll-Pross. Be prepared to explain in high detail what happened.
Creeper Cop
On any application you'll have to disclose all the arrests and be able to explain these facts to their satisfaction or your application will be passed over.
1. What you were really doing.
2. What you were arrested for.
3. What you were doing that caused them to charge you with those crimes.
4. Why the charges were dropped.
From what you have told us here, we really can't give you any more advice besides it doesn't look good for a career in LE for you.
One other things fishy about your posts. In this other post you are making it sound like you are in LE now, and in this post you are asking if certain things will DQ you from LE??

We carry the H&K 40 USP here at my Fed. We get all the standard equipment cuffs, baton, oc spray, and a surefire combat light. We don't get vests here.... if you want one you have to purchase it yourself.
Please explain?
I was a passenger in a car when the driver was accused of pointing a gun at another motorist. I was arrested a week later and charged with the charges that I stated above. In all of the police reports I was only indentified as being the passenger, not the driver who was said to point a weapon. I work in law enforcement now and have for the past 3 years and I want to apply with another agency but i'm hoping this will not prevent me from pursuing a career in LE. Thanks for the honest feedback.
I work for the Federal Reserve System as a federal law enforcement officer. We are sworn officers both federally and locally as special police officer. I want to apply with an another agency for career growth and to open my doors for specialized units.
You'll have a difficult time because of the "guilt by association factor". As for applying, it never hurts to try. Just make sure you've got all your paper work in order.
The arrest record will definitally raise a lot of question and depending on their policies and requirements. Good luck though. The worst they can say is no.
Yes, I know its going to raise alot of questions but I am more than willing to explain what happened. Thanks for the input ranger.
There is one non-sworn person who works for me who has a nolle-pros DV who recently applied for the academy and they will not take him nor will the Sheriff. Our Sheriff is so particular, he won't take anyone who did any kind of drug even in high school.
Did this happen while you were already a fed?
It looks bad for you. The more time you have in your current job and the more time you put that incident in your past the better. It will still be tough to overcome.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
How much time should I have between the incident and applying?
I'd say, at least five years minimum.Originally Posted by FedPD02
