we play leap frog. one will make a stop for whatever reason and the other gets in front about 1/8 mile down and clocks cars passing by or not moving over. that officer flags them over and when the first officer is done, he'll get in front of that officer and do the same. we leap frog all the way down one side then turn around and do it on the other side.
i've almost been hit a few times. once, if it hadn't have been for my passenger side approach, i would certainly have been hit and killed.
here are some very good examples of violations...

there is also a video of a TXDPS t-stop. the trooper stops the car and proceeds to pull well off onto the shoulder. the violator car stopped with the left tires almost on the white stripe of the shoulder. about the time the trooper is heard saying, "man, you better get over " on his camera (referring to the car he was stopping), a truck-tractor and trailer runs right into the center of the violator car. the lady in the car was killed instantly and the semi went sideways crossing the median into the oncoming lanes. fortunately, the cars in the oncoming lane only clipped the semi. it could have been much worse.
so if your husband believes it is a stupid law and fails to obey it, tell him he better start networking with some awfully good defense attorneys.
so you can see that not only does it apply to help people like me, it keeps whomever i have stopped safe too.
