    If Anyone Can Help,please Do.

I am interested in a possible career in law enforcement but I have :
    1) assaualt 4th-spouse amended to disorderly conduct 1/02
    2)theft by deception---dismissed
3)speeding and no insurance ---plead guilty (4 of these total)
4)and 3 moving violations pending completion of a KAPS program

Will these prevent me from law enforcement?
Please help me I would like to know if I should put time in for this career

If you were convicted on a domestic assault you are done. If it was amended to something else, this will not change the arrest charge. You will have to make this known to the background investigators at the time of application. That is going to be tough to overcome, IMO.
You know the difference between a job and a duty? A job you can refuse to do because it's dangerous; a duty you must do even if it is dangerous.

My first question to you would be- what is your SECOND career choice?? Any domestic violence is pretty much a sure disqualifier, and with that other stuff behind it, I don't think you will be enforcing laws any time soon. No offense intended, that's just a fact of life.

Not to mention patience. He didn't even stick around to get an answer.

Maybe so, but whether you were convicted or not, it's still going to be a huge problem.

To be totally blunt, why would they hire someone who has been arrested for domestic violence when there are plenty of applicants who haven't been arrested at all. The fewer arrests, tickets, etc. an applicant has, the less liability the department/agency takes on.

Who would YOU rather hire if YOU were the person making the decision?

You can't possess a weapon in Florida if you were convicted of #1 or domestic violence. You wouldn't be able to go into LE here. You could become a lawyer with the proper education though. *cough*

I'm sorry, I'm new on the board, but is this person serious?, Just the charges alone would kill him on a Federal background check. All of them are moral turpitude complaints. In the Commonwealth it would be hard to get a job with those. I just wonder if this is not a prank?
I'ld like gansta rap more if it wasn't about killing people like me!

I think he's probably legit and really wants to know if he's got a shot.

I never cease to be amazed at how far a person can shove his own head up his own a$$. Incredible...

We get doosies here. Below is a small sample of past background posts from folks wanting to get into LE.

Here is my story. I am 20 years old, I currently work 2 security jobs part time, I have had numerous jobs as a teenager, a couple which I have been fired from, One of those jobs I stole a 25 dollar shirt for which i was fired for
I did some things to mess up my credit, it is still bad. I also was at a party one time about 3 years ago and my friend offered me a joint. I was pretty lit already, so I took 2 or 3 puffs on it.
The problem I have is the background. I do not think It is going to go to well because I am not sure I have good refernces, as I was a trouble maker throughout school, amnd In my teen days. I did steal 2 times in my life but was not charged, I did have to do community hours when I was 12 though,. I have been fired from a couple jobs for little reasons
but has had credit issues, collections only and some driving lic. issues, 2-3 susp/FTAs but no revocs... can they ever become a Sworn Officer???
I was busted for theft at a place i worked at while Iw as a teenager. I want to know how this will affect me,
I want to know if I will be disqualified when I apply with the PD due to my past drug usage. I smoked marijuana in high school and did methamphetamines early in college.
i have a few issues, I would like to know if you think they will hurt me:
    1. real bad credt, collections and judjments
    2. Shaky job history (lots of jobs since i was young)
    3. A early discharge from miliatry it was general w/less than honerable conditions....
I am wanting to know if I will be able to enter the Police Academy. I was put on deferred probation a year ago
I was imediately told I was d.q. because of 2 credit acounts past due 320.00 and 150.00, 1 speeding ticket (5 m.p.h. over posted) from a year ago, and 2 misdemeanor arrests one when I was 17 the other 18. The first arrest was for unlawful credit card use (1 year court supervision with adjudication withheld) the other theft
I have one dismissed misdemeanor for Possession of Alcohol (underage). In the next 8, 9, maybe 10 years, I will be applying for a job as a police officer, probably SBPD, or SJ County in Indiana. My problem is, in the past I have used Hallucinogens such as Psychedelic Mushrooms and Datura. I did get high on marijuana al ot my senior year of high school.
Over the course of a couple months, my brother, a friend, and I stole items from various stores in the area
smoked pot in college on a regular basis and did ecstacy 3 times
i have Gender Identity Disorder. In less doctoral terms, i am transgendered. TO make my life more confusing, i am also gay-identified. I am a female-to-male transguy. (female biologicially but "changing" to a male)
I committed a stupid crime at 18 yoa, theft of gas by using someone else's gas card. The charge was deferred, I was on probation for one year
While in the guard, I failed a urinanalysis for pot. They let me stay but I had to do drug and alcohol counselling. I got out of the Guard to join the Marines. While in boot camp, I was discharged for fraudulent enlistment. have had a few tickets - illegal possession of alcohol when I was 16; illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and illegal transportation of alcohol when I was 19.

Too much drama in your past to get a job at my PD.
