I am planning on going to college for whatever subject im not sure yet. I heard that it does not matter I dont have to go to college for law so I will probalby do something I can fall back on just in case. Anyways, I want the option to make it to captain, do I need a associates, bachelors, or masters degree for that? Does it vary from state to state or department size? Generally Masters, it does depend on the department.

It will depend on the dept, but minimum bachelor's at mine for rank higher than sergeant.
