Ktm, I started as a Public Service Aide (handling non-criminal violations) with the City of Miami at 18, attended the academy and then went on as an LEO at 21. In Florida, you have to be 19 to go to the Academy and 21 to become a Police Officer.

Join an Explorer unit at your local Sheriff's Department. It's great experience.

im job shadowing the local P.D on the 30th and 31st of december

first day is just going to be office work like dispatch and stuff then the second day im going out on a patrol ride along from 2pm till 10pm at night
its gonna be new years eve and im hoping to see some action :cool:

i cant wait for it cause i want to experiance what being a cop is really like

18, for some departments, 21 for others. Check with the department you wish to work for.

Just because the minimum age is 18, 19, 21 etc doesn't mean that you will be able to get a job. A lot of people apply to become a LEO, some have degrees, some have veterans preference ( like me) , some are older and have more experience at being an adult. So the people that apply at the earliest age are definitely facing a lot of stiff competition. Does this mean you shouldn't apply at your first opportunity ? NO. But don't think that with NO experience, NO military and or NO degree that you will be snapped up.
