    After being hired?

I have reached the end of the testing process with a local department, and was given an official hiring date of December 16th. I must attend the academy which begins Jan. 3rd. My question is, what will be expected of me during those two weeks in between?? Will it just be a checklist of things to get ready for the academy?? Is it an orientation period?? Other??

    Thanks,
    bubbajo.

That depends on your department's requirements. It could be an orientation period, some type of field training, or some combination of things. Ya just never know, kinda like going out in the street on patrol......good luck

It might help if you posted which City, State you are in. Someone from here may know your departmental procedure.

Congrats on getting hired! Don't ever let your guard down on both the inside and the outside. Whatever you do and say, remember someone is watching. You will be a public servant and a servant to your agency. Stay on your toes! Good luck!

HAHAHA We had to go to the Public Safety building and work in the office,,,was pretty cool...we had to make copies and get new hire packets for the next bunch ready,,and best of all,,,file the apps to people that failed the process....and we were all like,,,hey this guy took a swing at the psychiatrist,,,mail bomb,,,10 traffic tickets lol a bunch of stuff that I was amazed these people even tried to get hired. Just follow directions and you will be fine.

You may want to go to Kinko's and learn everything you can about the copier machine...because rookie, your gonna be the sheep in the barrel during your two weeks when it comes to copying police reports for the Record Section.
Eunice: A .22? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.
