Need Help Finding Education Assistance money for Academy

Hey this is my first post here! I just found it trying to track down scholarships and grants specifically to help me pay for the academy. I haven't had any luck at all! I know there as to be some free money available for people to use for the academy post 9-11. Any help would be greatly apprecaited! The academy is not cheap! Thanks ahead of time.

Have you tried finding a dept that hires you and then sends youj to the academy? If I'd had to pay for my own, I'd still be selling cars.....
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I read you were in the military. Use that GI Bill. I did for my academy.
You know the difference between a job and a duty? A job you can refuse to do because it's dangerous; a duty you must do even if it is dangerous.

I am planning to use my GI bill, but it still won't help me pay for all of it.

I do have a job, but of course I will be limited in the hours I can work when I start the academy. As far as satellite/cell goes, I have to use the cable, because I signed a contract. As far as cells go I probably have to keep that to because I won't have a land line. I know there has to be something out there, to help out. I'm not looking for a hand out, but I still need to pay the bills while I'm going to the academy.

I saved up for two years for my academy which cost me over $3K...... Not to mention the 7 months of my life... :D
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

    RDS,
In MO you can either find a Dept. and get them to pay for it or pay for it yourself. Most Depts. (other than the Highway Patrol and the bigger cities like Kansas City and St. Louis) perfer you to pay your own way through. A few may drop that if you sign a contract to stay with them for a period of time.

When I did it, I had my GI Bill pay for some of it and was able to use Pell Grants and Federal Student Aid to get it taken care of the rest. If the academy that you are going through doesn't offer that, find another one. There are plenty out there.

    Good luck

Move to Georgia. The state will pay for it.

The Sheriffs Training Acadamy usually has an agreement with a University to assist with student loans. Last time a checked it was Drury College.
If your just out of the Military you may qualify for other fed loans talk to the VA.

Give the Mo Sheriffs training acadamy a call their in Jeff City.

In Illinois, we have a thing called the Illinois Veteran's Grant. It basically pays for tuition (up to 120 hours) at any state college or university for any Illinois veterans that served active duty during a specific period. You might want to see if the Show Me state has got something like that for you.

When you are requesting all of the Aid, make sure you ask for the Pell Grant first. You won't have to pay it back......Financial Aid you will have to pay back.

    Where in MO are you?

Check with Missouri Southern State in Joplin. They have a basic LE Acadamy and can probably help you out.
