Essay assignments with interviews, it can be any LE department.

I asked my professor Mr. Lugo of AJ115, if I can ask any officer from RP forum even if an officer is from another state, he said that I can ask any officer from any state  . I need a source of where you from, name of department you work, your names and ranks (badge number isn't necessary), city, and state. PM for that source of information. Your choices of three questions:

What is meant by "discretionary power"? What problems, if any, does it create for the criminal justice system (law enforcement-courts-corrections)? Do you think "discretionary power" is positive or negative in terms of community and human relations?

Why and how does a law enforcement officer come to reject the idea that he/she is first a social worker, then a law enforcer. Is the rejection of the "social worker" idea based upon what the public thinks, the public's preconception of what a police officer should be, or the orientation and peer pressure of the organization?

Why should the proper handling of complaints against personnel and agencies of the system be a high priority program of an agency?

Sorry to take away from this, but what kind of question is that, and who came up with it? If we were social workers it would be "social officer" rather than "law enforcement offiicer". That's nowhere in my job description, and there are others who are much better at it. Yes, we sometimes help solve problems without enforcement, but we don't have the time, training, or resources to be couselors or social workers.

To me, not only this one but all three sound like baited or biased questions. Asking what problems come from exercising discretion, and talking about the high priority of complaints against officers? Yes, of course complaints are high priority, but 95% of them are bogus in nature, and why would they need answers to such questions from officers? Just my opinion, but all these questions are very negative towards LE.

Piggy, it's up to you, if you want to answer just one or all three.

tpd, I know, but it's on the essay questions I got from Mr. Lugo who was an officer himself now a professor for Community Relations class.

What about this one question from the others: Do you think the interaction between people, or human relations, is one of the ways for improving criminal justice and community contact? Why?

Wow, are you sure these aren't the entry questions for membership into the ACLU?? Talk about biased. None of those are 2 sided quesitons. They are all negative towards LEO's, but i will PM you with my answer to one of them.

I'd be happy to answer them also, but if these are the kinds of questions he's giving out he probably wouldn't like my answers, and you probably wouldn't like your resulting grade. ;)

It's okay, he likes any answers, I got 50 points from my old essay assignments, my sergeant friend didn't like those questions. He explained his side of views and his own opinions. I told him I earned 50 points on my essay. He smiled. I'll let you know how the essay goes. ;) I got 30 questions there... I wish I can email you the whole 30 questions if you want, so you can pick what you like.

send me a check and i'll send you an answer.

by the way, my department requires $30 an hour minimum for OT work and that is a 1 hour minimum. if you'd like an estimate for the answer before you spend your money, i can provide one for $10.

    thanks.

    Update: Points and Grade

Thanks, guys. I got 50 points on an essay. Full 50 points out of 50 points. And the overall grade for the class is "B" but almost "A" becuz of absents.. due to my son's fever problem and my vehicle broke down on freeway and street on my way to college.. And I'm very happy. Thank you all very much.

    ;)
