    Ok Silly Handcuff Question

just one of the random thoughts that run across my mind during the day...

So i'm at work today and i just made a delivery at one of my many banks, when i'm walking back to the truck and in the parking lot the City PD has a person pulled over, no biggie. I hop into our truck and begin writing up some paperwork and look out when my driver points out that now the officer has the the driver outside the car....it appears the cop is going to search his vehicle, I notice the guy that is pulled over has no left hand at the wrist, maybe a lil bit above i wasnt that close...

Anyways we pull off, but it left me wondering. Hmmmm..what if the cop finds something arrestable in the guys car?

how do you go about handcuffing someone like that?
Silly thoughts, pheraps a simple answer?

Flex cuffs work wonders in these situations. We've done it before, handcuff the good wrist to his belt and flex cuff his other elbow to his body.

Well, he had to have probable cause (observed something criminal like a joint in the ashtray...a gun on the seat) to search to begin with or the person driving the vehicle gave permission. If the LEO finds something, to jail the person goes. Handcuff them nicely or not so nicely. What is hard about that?

Star, didnt mean to tick you off.

I'm not a cop so the solution did not appear so easily to me.

Oh i see! LOL. my question wasnt or not does he go to jail it was all about the handcuffing.

Damn, you didn't tick me off, hon. I just reply with the basics. Sorry! :D I guess I am harsh. Didn't mean to be.

Handcuff good hand to opposite foot. :D
You know the difference between a job and a duty? A job you can refuse to do because it's dangerous; a duty you must do even if it is dangerous.

Actually...just reasonable suspicion to conduct a check on the vehicle. If I can articulate his *** was moving around enough to make me feel that he was going for something, he's coming out and I'm searching. ;)

Take a coat hanger. Have him place his arms together behind his back. Run the hanger up to his elbows, with his arm inside the hanger. Hook the hook on his belt.

One of our 'old-timer' detectives got into a foot chase with a suspect that only had one leg....and the guy got away. Needless to say he'll go the grave getting ripped on about that one.
