We ended ours a couple of years ago......I am not happy about it.

Instead, they say they now serve more kids, but we never hear about it or are given an opportunity to donate. They supposedly just deliver various toys and gifts to more families. I just question which way is better.

Well kids, sit down for storytime. I volunteered with the shop with a cop about 4 years ago. The local Sheriff sent out letters to all the parents ahead of time letting them know every last detail. The day before, a phone call was made reminding the parents one last time.

So I show up at my assigned kids house. The kids home, parents are not. They went up to get some beer. While I'm waiting forever in the driveway, we get a complaint about go-karts racing down the roadway. I'm afraid if I leave the parents will come & go, so I decide to wait in the driveway. Another deputy is waiting with me. About 5 minutes later the parents finally show up....in a friggin go-kart racing down the road.

We chew the guy out for driving a go-kart in the road and then we're ready to leave for the shopping trip. Mom comes out and tells me that she promises her 10 year old that he could get his nipple pierced while we're shopping, and gives him extra money. First of all, Wal-Mart doesn't pierce nipples, second this Santa isn't having any part of it. So the kid is already ticked off at me.

We finally get to the store, get all the Christmas stuff and we're done with it.

About 3 weeks later, the kids house gets raided because mom & dad decided they wanted to start cooking meth. That will be the last time we do that.

And by the way, we didn't get meth ingredients while we were shopping, just toys.
