Flashing Headlights because of a leo

When an oncoming car flashes their lights at you, you can assume one of two things, 1 it may be that your lights are not on, or 2)there is a police officer hiding out nearby.

I was just curious if any of you cops have ever ticketed anyone who had notified another motorist of a cop being nearby, and exactly what that law is called in your jurisdiction.

If someone is flashing their highbeams while there is an oncoming car within 300ft or following behind a car within 500ft, you'll be getting a citation from me..
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

    A follow up question....

When I drive on the highway late at night, I see truckers who when they pass eachother, turn off their lights for a brief second.

Also, when truckers do this, what are they saying, "Hey same team" or something like this.

Could you potentially cite one of these truckers for "improper headlight use"? and have any of you ever?

They actually blink their running lights to thank ea other for letting the other know when it is safe to change lanes.

Yup, usually when a rig passes another, the passee blinks to let the passer know it's clear to change back into the right lane. The passer in turn blinks to thank the passee ;)

No, I haven't and wouldn't cite for such an effective safety measure. It blinks for a second, and it's common courtesy.

So, when can one be cited for flashing lights? The whole notifying of a police cruiser is a given, but in Mass. they flash lights for everything. "GET OUT OF MY WAY", "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Can you cite for these types of things assuming that it is in the daytime. People use lights to notify a lot more often than horns up here for some reason. Also, can you cite for horn usage?

Sorry to take it back to the first topic for a moment. Here we can't pinch anyone for flashing their lights to warn of a traffic cop up ahead. There is no specific statutory offence but there is a general offence of hindering police in the execution of a duty. We lost a test case on that. Interestingly one of our members was disciplined internally for doing just this whilst off duty.

Blinking your lights, and flashing high beams are two different things.
