    Slackers!

No matter where you work, there's always one who is the ultimate slacker. How do you deal with the ones that hate to take calls and try to push them off on someone else? The ones you have to pray will be there to back you up if/when the time comes? Do you confront them and say something to them? Do you voice your concerns to a supervisor? Or do you just let them dig their own grave?

Our S.O. is great in that if you want to work only traffic, have at it. If you (me) want to concentrate on Drugs, have at it.

As long as you answer your calls and are polite, you won't have a problem.

There are the ones that are only there to collect a paycheck and get benefits. Those, I ignore. But they better be there when I need them.

I rag the **** outta them for being slack..... They do not get called by me for a door-kickin..... which everyone regards as a fun part of the job.

Slack, as in hanging out at their house when on-duty, is a "write-up" by me, and forwarded to the Lt. It will reflect on their yearly eval. and make that CDP raise a little harder to acquire.

One can only be so Open Minded before all that mind **** spills out, stains and ruins everything.

The first time they are not there when I need backup, it's gonna be me and them, goin' round and round! (Mostly ME!) I don't care what they do, as long as it doesn't affect someone else's safety.

I'm with Trooper. Also, it takes the toll when they dumptruck reports on other people. When the sh** hits the fan, they have no idea what to do. They're usually the ones on with a department with 30 yrs and end up in records or serving warrants.

It's difficult in our dept to dump calls on each other, but there are ways. Those that do it, it ends up being obvious to everyone else.

What goes around...comes around. We're just talking cold paper calls though. We would even think of playing around if someone was calling for assistance.
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

The slackers get "rewarded" by me ( the Sgt) with being assigned to extra duties that may not be as pleasant. The good workers will garner the better details and when I need someone to work OT, guess who gets asked first ?

    YES!!!

Being Supervisor, believe it or not, I have no slackers. I work directly with the cops who work under my direction. They are awesome and they respect me very much. I do not get taken advantage of because I don't take advantage of them. Respect for respect. We're are a great team. I'm truly lucky. But.....I have gotten rid of a couple of slackers and that's how I deal with them. It's going to be one way or the other...pick one...their choice. I've been tagged with the good ole' "don't f with her and she will treat you right". It works.
