How reliable is the polygraph test. Are finger prints kept on file for life. What if a person gets a pardon and a good reputation.

Sorry maybe this question is a little foolish. I guess everything is dealt with a certain way.

A polygraph is a pretty accurate test of whether you have a reaction to a question that is asked to you. The polygraph examiner has the job of trying to figure out why you had that reaction.
A question as an example: Have you ever forced someone to have sex with you.
I could have a huge reaction to this question but it doesn't indicate that I'm a rapist. I could have been raped in the past, I could have had a loved-one raped. I could have have close friends that have been raped. I could have a relative who I know is a rapist, I could have some deep dark fantasies about raping someone....etc, it could be a million things. The polygraph examiner will usually interview the examinee afterwards to try to figure out why they had the reaction they did. Most people "fail" a polygraph because they admit to things before, during, or after the polygraph that they had denied before.
As far as fingerprints, I believe that fingerprints are kept on file indefinitely. It has nothing to do with whether or not you have a "good reputation". My fingerprints, as well as those of all other LEOs are on file, and I'd like to think we are generally good people. Fingerprints files may be destroyed after a person has died, but I have heard of fingerprint matches from old cases where the suspect was deceased at the time, so I'm guessing that they aren't destroyed after death either.
So, in conclusion- that axe murder that is unsolved where you live will probably eventually be linked to you by your fingerprints. And, I wouldn't try taking a polygraph to convince them that you didn't do it- you'd probably fail.![]()

Even the people President Clinton pardoned never got a good reputation. A reputation is something earned.Originally Posted by littlestar3842
Unfortunately there was a murder similiar to that with an axe there a few years-it was terrible this woman was being harassed by her ex-husband, she called 911-but they didn't think he was capable of the crime he committed, he split her head open with an axe-he has since gone to jail, also one just last week a woman in her late thirties was found in a wooded area outside of Charlottetown. My sister knew her. She had been in the psychatrictic hospital and left. Then one year a woman was found along the path they bike on, it is not even safe here. They have no leads on that case and beefed up patrol on the bike path. I hope one day they catch him and he gets what he deserves.

I have a daughter that lives in Ontario, I am always preaching to her about staying safe, and trusting her instincts. I pray for both of my kids a lot in Toronto, ON. It is so hard when your children live away-you always miss them, and worry about them. I try to send lots of parcels,chat,e-mail and phone to deal with this. They come home every year or two, two years since I had a visit with my daughter. My son came home last Christmas for 10 days. One is 20 and the other 18, one is going to university and the other to College in the spring. I commended them on graduating this past year. I have one son who lives with me, he is 7. One good thing my son met a woman on line and they have fell inlove. They are so close, together all the time. I hope one day they marry. They are so good for one another.

She's doing pretty good. Still don't understand why she doesn't marry the trucker she has been seeing for the last 10 years. She is tied to raising her 18 year old daughter, who just got pregnant. I feel sorry for my sister. She is having real problems. I think if I were her I'd marry the trucker.................and visit the hospital now and again-not too often.........
