I grew up indifferent to L/E. There is a good deal of it in the family but I didn't give it much thought as a career option. I had other ideas about what I wanted to do with my life, but a friend in L/E hit me with the "why don't you try police work?" question at just the right time. I jumped in with both feet and have not regretted the decision in the least.

Interesting how people get into it. I grew up around law enforcement. Father was in a special division, but I was never interested in it till I got a lot older. The majority of LEO's I know use to be in the military. I always wondered how the majority could come out of war and handle being a LEO.

    Ain't that the truth! lol

I've always been interested in LE since high school, but didn't major in it in college. Thought about it again after I got married, but started the family route. Then I went to an "open house" at a police station. Everyone was there...bomb squad, helicopter, K9, etc...including a recruiter. I was like a kid in a candy store. I just mentioned to the recruiter of my past interest, and he sought me out. I never had to give my speech of why they should hire me...it was the opposite...he talked to me for quite sometime, got me to come down to his office the next week, and said, "while you're here, can you fill out this application?" And the rest is history.

Any by the way, it's never too late to start your career! I went thru the academy at age 31...had a ball!
