I own an 81 chevy malibu i've been investing a considerable amount of time and money into the vehicle. i just want to verify, but as i understand it il state law state that vehicles on or after1982 are not able to have tint on any other windows except rear sides, and main rear window. Basically no fronts no windshield. However considering my car is an 81 model i'm wondering would 35% front and 20% rear sides and rear be acceptable. although i'm sure i will be bothered occasionally by my local officers. a ticket and trip to court costs a great deal less than what i have to loose. please advise me on this as best as possible. I live in Chicago but i'm sure most state laws are uniform.

The chicago ordinance is no tint (except factory tint) on the windshield or the front driver/passenger side windows. It doesn't matter what year the vehicle is, you could be cited for a compliance violation whether you are moving or parked.
