Help I have a court date in two days

Ok someone help! Im getting ready to fight a ticket in court! Here is the scenario I was in a left hand turning lane when a mortorcylist hit me as I was turning from behind. He claims that I was in the far lane and cut him off. I was not. My eyewitnesses will not testify unless I pay them 50.00 a piece. I will do not such thing. They are trying to extorsion money out of me. Although they stated that he was not watching where he was going and speeding and powerbraked and ran into me how can this be my fault. I believe I was given the ticket because he went to the hospital and I didnt. What do I do? I have no witnesses? I have had one other ticket for an accident in 1995 and that is it could this effect the outcome. He wasnt checked for alcahol or drugs either.

If the police took a report and did the proper investigating (reconstruction, eyewitness statements, etc), the evidence will show who was at fault. We can't give you proper advice because we were not there. Not to say you are lying, but there are two sides to every story. If you were in the turning lane as you say and the cyclist ran right into the back of you, then I don't think you have anything to worry about. But if the evidence and any statements suggest otherwise, I would advise you to get an attorney. ;)

I'm not one to tell you how to fight a ticket, because I don't believe I would have cited you unless I could show what happened. Generally rear-end accidents are pretty simple, so my thinking is there must have been some other circumstances or evidence. If you really have witnesses, contact the court and ask them how to get them subpoenad. If the court calls them, they have to appear. Also, if you don't want to hire an attorney, call the prosecutor and ask for a conference or pre-trial meeting concerning the matter. They might be willing to reduce, modify, or dismiss the charge if you explain your side of things and he reviews the case.

I'm guessing you are fighting a ticket, and not going to trial over some criminal matter so I'd just suggest telling your story, the cop will tell his, and the judge will decide. You can explain that you have witnesses that won't come forward. Like others have said, rear-end collisions are pretty easy to figure out, so I'm guessing there is a bit more to the story.

Sounds like you made in improper lane change/usage here. I don't see how a cycle would rear end you if you were properly turning.

I dont know either I am telling you he came from nowhere and my witnesses before they tried to extorsion money from me seen it all. I went to their house that night since they wouldnt talk to the police. Im so angry and nervous about going to court the guy was laying in the middle of the road in the turn lane. How do you explain that one?

You chose the name "Goodgirl" to ask about beating a ticket? Something doesn't seem right about that. Anyway, all you can do is tell the truth and let the guy tell his side. The Judge will know who's bsing. Keep your story short and sweet, to the point. Judges don't like to hear people repeat themselves twenty times. Definitely don't disagree with anyone while they are speaking. Wait your turn. Dress nicely. That's about all I can tell you. I'd wish you good luck but I'm on the cops side. ;)

I was in the middle turn lane turning left and he hit me square under the tailights he landed in the middle of the road. he and his mortorcyle landed in the middle of the lane. My witnesses said that he was totally in the wrong

I had it set up for the kid to come to court with me he and his brother that witnesed it wanted me to pay them to me that is wrong. Now if I supponea him I take the chance that they will lie because they are mad
