Does He/She deciede to hire you?

Hello,

I was told by this girl that 'the attorney general decieds who to let in the police academy' And when I heard this, I said 'no he dont!' and she said 'yes he does! and i asked 'how?' and she said 'i dont know they just do'.

she gave me an Example as,

If I would want to become a Police Officer, and if her mom (who's the assisstant Attorney General) called the Attorney General and said I was a bad kid/peson and give me bad remarks, he wont let me come to the Academy.

Bottom line is this,

Does the Attorney General have any control on who gets hired in the Police/Sheriff Stations??

And if not, who has the 'yes' or 'no' to having someone hired?

(Sorry if i ask stupid questions but I'm tryin to find the truth out. and would think you guys would know.)

That girl is wrong. As long a a person meets the state minimum standards, then each police/sheriff gets to pick their own officers.

According to where you are and what the State Law is, I'd say it's possible. In NC, we have a Standards Commission that can deny and/or revoke your certification. They have no say as to who hires who, but without the Cert, you cannot be LE.

Wasn't there another post about the arrest authority of an attorney general? Are you dating this AG's daughter or something?

No......I did at one point, But we are OVER. The reason i ask this caue my friend is with the girl now. And she trys to think she can make a way to have me not become a LEO. Since she knows that is my dream. Along with her saying her mom and the attorney general have more control over the LEOs.

That is why i ask these questions.

Also I dont want you guys to get annoyed by my questions about the stuff obtaining the Assisstant and Attorney General.

I wont be able to apply for another 6 years. I'm only 15...but when i turn 18. I'm going to try to become a Corrections Officer at the jail. I was told i should do that by a friend thats a Corporal for the Sheriff.

The AG might have some influence regarding a person getting hired but they do NOT have the time or ability to review all of the candidates for a LEO position. In 6 years you won't even know your now ex-girlfriend.

It sounds like she is playing mind games. By the time you are old enough to apply she probably won't remember your name. That and the AG is likely to be replaced in an election by then anyhow and her mother may not have that job. Don't sweat it.
