    Question question about past

I have a DUI that i pleaded Guilty to 3 years back. Judge gave me a probationary period of a year on my driving record, a fine, 3 classes to attend. I am ex military and am interested in becoming a LEO.
Please let me know if this will hinder my chances at getting hired, or will it not matter too much since it was "traffic related" and not "crim related".

Thank you for any imput you have.

It could, dependant on the department and State Guidelines for certification.

In NC, there is a 5 yr min. wait for any Misdemeanor conviction.

One can only be so Open Minded before all that mind **** spills out, stains and ruins everything.

I think my dept will take you if it's only one DUI and it was over 5 years ago. Anymore than that and you are DQ'd forever. You'd have to check with individual depts. I've read that some won't consider anyone with a DUI at all. Personally, I think that's foolish, but nobody ever asks me what who I think they should hire....
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Pretty much the same answer as the other two. It will vary on the department. Some depts, you will probably need a minimum 3-5 yr gap between the charge. Other depts it my DQ automatically. Your best answer will come from the depts you are interested in. Good luck ;)

It'll be a bump in the road, but something you can get over. Where were you considering applying?

We would disqualify you immediately. Other's may vary.

BTW: DWI is a criminal charge, not a traffic one here.

With us it is 5 yrs AND you would have to get it expunged as it is a criminal offense ( Misd 2nd) .

I was thinking of applying in Illinois. Montgumery, Aurora, Wheaton, Warrenvile, and maybe even as a ST (state trooper). Anyone know anything about these areas? ;)

Unfortunately, it's a criminal charge here as well. You might try getting it expunged. Either way, you're going to have to divulge the information. Good luck with it. Everyone makes mistakes.
