How many of you like to watch Cops?

I was just wondering if actual police officers like watching this show or if you are looking to completely break away and rewind when not on the job?

Also, for those that do watch it, do you feel it accurately portrays police officers or do you feel that maybe the cops who are being filmed act a little differently due to the fact that the camera is there?

I watch it periodically. Everyone acts different when a camera is present, that can be both good and bad. Even the criminals act different when they know a camera is present, again that can be good and bad.

I watch it if its on but do not actively seek it out.

I used to watch COPS before I got hired and was in awe. Well...after I got hired, I just watch COPS for a laugh once in awhile. I feel it only potrays a certain 10% of our job. Just the most exciting chase scenes, bad calls etc.

It doesn't show you sitting on a tow for hours or some other real 'exciting' detail. All the BS calls we go to. Writing reports for hours on end. None of that is exciting and doesn't make for good TV. So you're not going to see it.
Want to see what it's REALLY like...go on a ride-a-long with your local dept. That's COPS right up close and personal...
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

It takes them about a month of filming to get enough "good" material for one episode. Go figure.

The only good thing I have to say about Cops, is that it is better than the crap John Brunnell puts together.

I know Bunnell and worked around him. It's a wonder he's not in jail instead of on TV.....

I watch Cops until they filmed here and I saw the people they followed... It was embarrassing that they even considered them....

IMO, COPS is often an example of how not to do things.

If he did, I bet he was pushed! He's as insufferable in person as he is on TV. He was sheriff for one term here, promoted all his drinking buddies. The next sheriff was a real cop and demoted them all back down.
