Ticket Question (rear-end accidents)

I'll give you some background on my speed.

Speed Limit - 35. My Speed - 30 to 35.

Personally, I thought I skidded because of my braking style (usually abrupt) rather than because of speed itself.

In order to prevent a potential accident in these conditions, would driving at a lower speed be better (in this case say around 25 MPH), would leaving a larger space cushion be better, would braking more steadily and ahead of time be better, or should I do a combination of these three things (or something different)?

In answer to that question, if you have anti-lock brakes, they will not lock up. And yes, 25 mph or lower if it was slick enought to slide into a vehicle at 30 mph.

Scott, I don't have anti-lock brakes.

I drive a Jeep Wrangler with a thread pattern that's meant to do well in mud and snow, but it's not as effective in the rain.
