    Explorer program

After allmost a month of waiting, i have finally been accepted into my county's Explorer program!!! i am really excited about this oportunity to learn from and work around the LEO community. Once about a year has passed, should i apply for the Sheriff Aux. or should i wait until im certified? I asked our Advisor this, and he told me that i should be Certified first, to have the advantage over all the other aux. members who are not certified. However, i will not be 21 upon getting my CJ 2-year degree, therefore, i will have to go back to the academy, instead of getting it as a part of my degree. I mentioned this to him, and he's not sure what i should do either. (if i am in the Aux. then i can bypass the 21 year limitation because i will be endorsed by the Sheriff Dept.) What do you all think?

I would get certified first. You WILL have an advantage with that. That is JMO though.

If applying might prevent you from finishing your education, I say wait. If you can still get your degree and certification if you are picked up by the aux. then I don't see a problem with applying, but the extra training and certification will certainly help you out.
