    Auction Website Problem

    Hello,

I sold an item on an auction website and shipped it out promptly after receiving payment. The person that bought the item claims nothing was received. The day before this person claimed nothing was received, I checked the status of the delivery online and it showed status completed. With that information on hand, I threw away the physical piece of paper showing what date I shipped the item.

This person wants the item OR a refund which I can understand. But I don't have the money for a refund. If the person didn't pay extra for insurance, am I obligated to give him a refund. It seems once I shipped the item and it showed that it was received, I'm no longer the person to complain to.

How should I correct this problem? Will the police get involved in this if the person decides to turn nasty? He paid by money order if that matters.

The shipper is YOUR agent. You are responsible to insure safe delivery.

Was the item signed for? What online service did you use? Who was the shipper?

If you really shipped it, you should be able to get the tracking number from the place you shipped it through (i.e. fedex, post office, etc.). And yes, the police can get involved and if you can't prove you shipped it with the number you said you threw away, you could be looking at charges.

Let's say I do have to send a refund. Does it have to be sent within a certain period of time?

Most companies send refund checks 6-8 weeks after the request date. Is this the same for private transactions?

And does the price of the item matter at all? Would the police get involved if it was for a baseball cap worth $30?

This is my own personal advice. It sound like your dispute is a civil matter - between two individuals as long as you did indeed ship the item.

Like the others suggested I would check with your shipper to have them provide verification of delivery. They may be able to get you a copy if you provide enough information to them.

When you talk to them let them know your customer is claiming they did not receice the item and you wish to file a claim If you shipped with UPS they generally include free insurance for items up to 100.00. As for any other shipper you'll need to see what their policy is.

Good luck. When I ship items I always use UPS just to cover my tail incase the item gets lost or damaged.

I don't see why you would even be considering this if you DID ship it, have a tracking number and the package was signed for at the time of delivery???
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

Because he is contemplating frauding the buyer, and weighing the possible outcomes
What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?

I'm not going to make a comment about your comment because when someone comments about a false comment it usually makes the comment more credible.

That sounds good. I will talk with the shipper tomorrow.
