    Run Aways

Hey guys, I'm new here and I have a few questions. A friend of mine came to me a few days ago (17 years old) and said he was considering running away and knowing his family I cant blame him. Supposing my friend goes and his family reports him as missing a few days after and eventually they find him (authorities) can they forcibly make him go back home if he refuses to? also, are there any laws against helping him or maybe even letting him live with you? Thx in advance for the info, I appreciate it.

    It depends

It really depends on the age of majority in your state. In IL it would be 18. In other words, if your friend was 18 there would be nothing that anyone could do if your friend left his home. 17 he could be removed, though the preferred method is a MRAI with is a minor requiring authorative intervention. Counseling services get involved.

    Can't edit my post

Well, there is a law against harboring a runaway, although that law would not apply if your friend was no longer a minor under your state's statutes.

So it is possible that I may have some trouble with the law if I were to let him stay at my place?

    Trouble with the law

Yes, I would notify law enforcement officers that your friend came to your home, so that a resolution to your friends problems can be explored.

Severe is right. In CA an adult is someone over 18. Now if your friend can get himself emancipated, he'll be a legal adult and won't have any problems. If there is some issue of abuse in the home, have him contact CPS and they can more than likely help him through the process of becoming emancipated.
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.
