    Rank/Titles Questions for a Novel

I'm looking for some referance. I'm working on a novel and have found no help on the internet when it comes to my question. Basically, what I am looking for, is a description of the various jobs FBI agents have, the rankings, and titles. I don't want to be saying "Detective" and "Officer" because those aren't the right terms.

So, if someone were to be a member of the FBI who is dispatched to follow up on old cases, interview people on suspicion that their family may still be involved in organised crime... is there such a thing? What would that person be called, and how far up the FBI ladder would they be?

I am Canadian, so I really don't know much at all about the FBI besides what I see on TV and read in books. And referance sites would be very beneficial.

If there isn't much help, point me in the direction of a site concerning normal police officers and detectives. Their ranks, titles, seniority, etc. I could easily change the setting to suit that, if it is something that I could work around a little more easily.

    Thank you.

Not a whole lot of rank in the FBI from what I've seen. Usually agents, and sac's (special agent in charge). Of course the FBI has different divisions for investigating different crimes, but I don't know all of them. Check out their website, maybe that would help. ;)
